About the Event

Hotcha Paul and The Head Honchos have taken inspiration from the music and dance of the 30s era.  Having sifted through his hidden treasures of shellac 78s, singer-guitarist Paul Crook introduced the perfect set of tunes to his Head Honchos. These were mix of tunes by artists such as Cab Calloway, Nat Gonella, Slim Gaillard, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, Tempo King, Teddy Wilson, Ambrose and The Three Peppers.  The band members have all performed on the swing-dance scene for many years as musicians or dancers. Paul is a seasoned Lindyhop and balboa performer/teacher and played guitar in post-punk band The Trudy. Double bassist/saxophonist Niall Oates has also taught and performed Lindyhop. Pianist Stephen Large has been musical director and/or keyboard player for Caro Emerald, Imelda May, Clare Teal, Martha Reeves, Paloma Faith and currently plays with Squeeze and Paul Heaton/Jacqui Abbott. Drummer Andy Jones is a music producer for TV and film: 2bit recordings.
